Record Power have long been advocates of swivel head machines which not only reduce floorspace required for outboard turning as this can be achieved in front of the lathe - but also enables many different angles to be set so access from the traditional bed mounted toolrest can be improved on hollow vessels for example. The headstock is a large heavy casting and is repositioned easily with a cam operated locking mechanism.
The whole machine is very heavily built with extensive use of cast iron throughout - including the legs. Electronic speed control is delivered by a high quality inverter system from Schneider and all main components operate on easy to use cam locks. Weighing in at over 200kg and with a swing of 20" over the bed this lathe will handle the most demanding applications with consummate ease and we believe the value for money offered here will redefine the heavy sector of the market.
The MAXI range shares the 1 1/4" x 8tpi and No2MT configuration of all our heavier duty lathes so a wide range of accessories are available and will continue to grow.

Many of the features and components are shared with its sibling and it too uses Schneider electronic speed control but the headstock is fixed so outboard turning is catered for on the rear of the headstock (left hand thread accessories will be required for this). The stability and power delivered by this machine mean even large out of balance timber and heavy, wet wood can be handled with ease and this design has been tried and tested all over the world for many years. If you are in the market for a serious heavy duty machine this should be high on your shortlist.
